What can our Kitchener Waterloo interventional pulmonology team do for your patient?
Interventional pulmonology is a maturing medical sub-specialty from its parent specialty of pulmonary medicine and includes both respiratory medicine specialists and thoracic surgeons. Interventional pulmonology deals specifically with minimally invasive endoscopic and percutaneous procedures for diagnosis, staging and treatment of thoracic malignancies, as well as non-neoplastic diseases of the airways, lungs, and pleura.
Our Mission
We strive to investigate patients with suspected malignancy as quickly as possible while supporting them through this difficult and stressful time. All referrals will be triaged within 48 hours after being received and booked into the appropriate clinic depending on urgency. In most cases, further staging imaging and testing will be ordered at time of triage to reduce delays and your patient will be contacted by our clinic team to explain the process.
We are pleased to receive your consults for suspected or confirmed thoracic malignancy, pleural disease including pleural effusions and suspected asbestos exposure.
